YOU ASK, WE ANSWER
On pick-up, recycling and eco-design
What kind of textiles do you recycle?
We collect and recycle unsold products, IP-protected textiles, and industrial production scraps.
Which fabrics do you recycle?
We currently work with natural fabrics such as cotton, wool and cashmere. We also accept blends, as long as the synthetic fibers are in a smaller proportion (20%).
What recycling method do you use?
Our partners use mechanical recycling to produce the yarn, which is adapted to natural fibers.
Do I need to handle logistics?
We coordinate all the logistics, from your warehouses to the distribution of the recycled materials on the market, including disassembly and intermediate storage. The products are processed and received at our partner Cedre whose site is entirely secured.
How is our overstock sorted?
We sort through your inventory and stock using a unique method that we developed in-house. This method was designed with and for our recycling partners, in order to obtain a better quality of recycled yarns and textiles. We know how to sort 100% of your waste, and how to find the most appropriate channel, whether it is recycling or other (donation, reuse, shredding, other). Thus, the hierarchy imposed by the law is respected.
How long does a recycling project take?
Typically, about 2 to 3 months from the pick-up of your textiles to the final production of the recycled yarn.
Where are your recycling and production partners based?
Our partners are based in Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal).
How can we manage the impact of our recycling project?
At the end of the project, we share a detailed report, in which you will find the following elements: the valorization rate by channel, the fabrics and products developed, their impact, as well as all the documents of traceability and legal compliance (to be presented if a control is required).
How do you guarantee yarn quality?
We recycle mainly pre-consumer stocks, i.e. stocks that have never been worn, which were previously destroyed. The quality is guaranteed, the products are not deteriorated or contaminated, and the materials are well sorted according to a method developed in-house. We work with experts in Europe who ensure the quality throughout the chain. Our yarns are never made with 100% recycled fibers, we add 40 to 50% of virgin fibers, to bring strength and allow manufacturers to use our yarns in their weaving or knitting machines.
Do you have a permanent range of yarn?
Each input is unique, which means our yarns are also unique, and have their own stories. But we regularly offer yarn of similar compositions, fabric construction, and colors.
Is your yarn certified?
We and the majority of our partners are Global Recycled Standard certified. This international standard requires that a strict traceability process be followed. We comply with strict traceability standards. The virgin fibers that we add to our yarn is also certified (OCS, RWS, no mulesing, etc.).
Can you design a finished product made of recycled yarns?
Yes, we have an eco-design service to help brands to develop textiles and finished products through our complete circular chain. We have also created our first finished products collection to illustrate our expertise: the Rod collection, from our first recycled materials line.
What is the environmental footprint of a Weturn yarn?
Environmental savings are calculated for each of our yarns using a life cycle analysis tool, BCOME (Bcorp certified). We measure 4 indicators: CO2 and waste emissions, water consumption and eutrophication (water pollution). The impact of each yarn is available on the technical sheet.
How do we determine product equivalencies?
From the volumes collected, we make valuation of the number of products we could eco-design. These estimations are based on a 50/50 ratio: 50% recycled material / 50% virgin material.
How do you guarantee the yarn traceability?
Our recycling chain is unique because we have full visibility over the entire chain: we know where the raw materials come from, and we coordinate the entire logistics with our network of partners in Europe. All flows are optimized and tracked with Crystalchain, a blockchain technology, which guarantees real traceability, from fiber to product.
Do you have a range of permanent fabrics?
We develop different types of fabrics (jersey, fleece, denim, gabardine…) on a regular basis to feed our fabrics collection and meet the demand of designers and brands. These materials will be sold on the Nona Source platform from April 2023.
Can you create bespoke fabrics?
Yes, the eco-design department is at the service of brands and suppliers to develop bespoke recycled yarns and fabrics according to their needs and specifications. This can be done from the waste they wish to reuse in a closed loop, or from deadstock we have collected from other brands.
How can we communicate about recycled materials from the Weturn channel?
We have created MT®, a label that meets strict specifications and is represented by a logo or a tag that you can put on products developed with our recycled yarns. MT® guarantees the traceability and the impact of your productions. It certifies that your materials are of high quality and from a 100% European channel.
